The Miss. Springville Pageant

Samantha competed in the Miss. Springville Pageant on Saturday. It was so fun cheering her on along with our cousin, Kathryn. Although they didn't place, they looked and did their best!

I....

I know... I shouldn’t be scared of the dark
I believe... that I married the perfect person
I am angered... when I burn food in the oven
I love... the fact that Ty sleeps in until 10 every morning
I need... 8 hours of sleep
I take... my book where ever I go
I hear... every sound my baby my baby makes at night
I drink… crystal light for a snack
I hate… shopping at stores that have bad customer service
I use... 1800-GOOG-411 instead of the phonebook, so much faster!
I want... to complete our fence this spring so Ty can play in our yard by himself
I like... having brown hair instead of being called a red head.
I feel... good when I exercise
I wear... my hair in a braid almost every night
I left.... a huge pile of laundry unfolded for way too long
I do...not know how to drive a stick shift
I hope... that I never loose my wedding ring
I dream.... about the books that I read. Which has given me nightmares the past couple of nights.
I drive... a red Subaru Forrester
I listen... to Dr. Laura on the radio whenever I am in my car from 1:00 to 4:00
I type... in my journal on the computer almost every week
I think...Ty’s voice is the cutest thing I have ever heard
I wish... that I could be around Tyler everyday all day
I am... convinced that I have the best in laws ever!
I regret... when I don’t make time for the most important things every day
I care... way too much that Ty eats enough
I said... that I always wanted to have a dozen kids, but that number has majorly been revised since I have found out how much work one is!!
I wonder... if Ty and Austin will continue to look alike
I cry... when my kids get hurt
I lose... my train of thought a lot
I leave... my cell phone at home on accident way too much
I should... practice the piano more

*Thanks to my cousin-in-law, April, for this idea. Now you try it!

Lifesavers!

I put together a list of things that I really think has made my life so much easier being a mom. I really don't know what I would do without even one of these items! I am interested to see if anyone else feels this way about their baby things. I know that there are several things that would make my life even easier if only I knew about them! For example, I wish I could find a better way to dispose of diapers. I hate taking it all the way outside to the trash every time. (I have tried diaper genes and don't like them) It would make my life a lot easier if I had a better way to do this.
Okay here goes my list of life savers.

Pacifer Clip. Since I have gotten this I have never had to clean the pacifer after falling on the ground or even looked to see where I left it last. It is easy...always attached.

Noise Maker. My sister-in-law just sent me this a couple weeks ago and it has changed our lives. We can be having a party downstairs or Austin can be screaming in one room and Ty will still be soundly asleep in his room to the lullaby of nature sounds.

Ear Thermometer. You only have keep them from pulling away the thermometer for 3 seconds instead of 2 whole minutes. Taking their temperature has never been easier!

Bassinet RIGHT next to my bed. Even at night the baby and I are still connected. The last thing I want to do at 3:00 in the morning for the 4th time the baby has waken up is go down the hall to the babies roomt to replug the pacifier. I simply reach over without getting out of bed and do it while I am half asleep.

Burp Rags and Bibs Galore. They are located in every room of the house. You can never have too many when you have kids that frequently have projectile spit up.

Double Stroller. This is more important than my car! Okay, maybe not as important but I do use it more!

Do you see that blanket that the baby is wrapped in? It is an airplane blanket. You know the kind they let you "borrow" for the flight. Some how one ended up at home and lets just say I can't wait to take my next flight to "borrow" another. It is the only blanket that stays wrapped when I swaddle the baby. Too bad Wal-mart doesn't carry those.

Sling. This has been the single greatest thing I have ever made on my sewing machine. I don't like all the bulky baby carriers, so this is perfect. They love being snuggled soo close.

Last but certainly not least....GRANDPARENTS! I just don't know what I would do without all 4 of these people.

Salad Anyone?

Alright, you guys will be happy to know I have put together the PERECT salad. Okay, okay I won’t make you beg for the recipe…
-Greens
-Crasins
-Feta Cheese
-Sliced Grilled Chicken (George Foreman grill works great)
-Ramen Nut Topping
Mix pecans, walnuts and crunched up ramen noodles, the seasoning packets, a little bit of oil and sugar together and broil it in the oven until it is roasted.
-Poppy Seed Dressing
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup apple cider vinager
1 med. Purple onion
1 ½ tsp. salt
¾ tsp dry mustard
1 T. poppy seeds
1 ½ c. canola oil
*Don’t worry if it kind of looks like raspberry jam (it is because of the purple onion)

Left to Tell

This is a wonderful but extremely depressing book that my mom recommended about a woman that survived the Rwanadan Holocaust. I almost felt like I had read my scriptures for the day after reading this! She has incredible faith, forgiveness and belief in God. I couldn't help but think the whole time what an incredible member of the church she would be! She went into hiding for 91 days in a bathroom with 7 other people. The past couple days since I have read it I can't help but realize how grateful we are to live in America and for our safety. The craziest thing is to think that the genocides are still going on right now!

If you don't have time to read this you can youtube and listen to her testimonal. It is so inspiring!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=7YXchKsOvA4&feature=related

Happy Anniversary Aunt Suzy and Uncle Nelson!

This is the best gift we could think of this year. Actually we did this last year as well. But, Ty has grown a lot and can actually talk! Check out the one from last year below:

Aunt Sammy & Austin

Ty Videos

I realize that I just posted 4 videos of my son. I also realize that not everyone is as crazy about him as I am. So, sorry if this gets annoying. I posted them for Aunt Suzy by request. :) We are excited to see you in a couple weeks!

Ty & Austin's Cowboy Boot Pictures

This is a Flake tradition to take a picture next to cowboy boots. It shows how small they really are! Once again I couldn't help but compare the two boys in their cowboy boot pictures. I really can't tell their baby pictures apart! I keep having deja vu when I look at Austin. (Austin is on the left, Ty on the right)
